Losing your sense of smell is a frightening prospect, and there have been few treatments for the condition. Now it seems a long-established asthma drug could help. Robert Henkin and colleagues at the Center for Molecular Nutrition and Sensory Disorders in Washington DC studied 369 people, 314 of whom had “hyposmia” – a reduced ability to detect and recognise odours.
